An etrog (esrog/ethrog) is a container for the important citron, or lemon fruit, significant in the observance of the worship of Judaism. This is a hand-carved treen etrog, originating from Poland, Judaica. It opens on a hinge to reveal a red velvet-lined interior which is used to hold the etrog after it has been used and dried. Length 6.25 ins (16cm), circumference 9.75 ins (24.5cm). Weight 180 grams. In very good condition for age. This item can be seen in the book, "Antique Boxes - Inside and Out", on page 190.
