This is a sweet tiny cuboidal box with long green and purple tassels, two side ears with deep blue tassels, and a hanging cord. The sides are decorated with Chinese embroidered characters edged with blue, cream and green narrow braid. The top has embroidered leaves and a different braid and the two little ears have a central bud with leaves and braid border. The tassels of the ears have a small opaque white bead and a gilt holder for the tassel. The top of the box slides up to reveal a silk-covered and lined interior. All components appear to be reinforced with thin, probable cardboard. The condition is very good for age with slight wear to the interior and this item would be a charming addition to any collection of Oriental embroideries or boxes. Box measures approximately 1.5 ins (3.8cm) on all sides. Weight 10 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 63.
