This pendant spectacle case which could also be considered a spectacle chatelaine has an attached cord so it could be hung from a belt. It is of black satin and decorated with a multitude of Chinese characters. When opened, it slides up on the hanging cord to reveal a pink-lined interior and a classic pair of folding Chinese spectacles with circular lenses (the lenses do not have any obvious refraction). There are some loose threads along the edges of the spectacle case and some wear to the interior pink lining but this is otherwise in very good condition for age. This is particularly fascinating as it is a complete item including the spectacles. Length of case 6.75 ins (17.1cm), width 3 ins (7.5cm). Weight 120 grams. This item appears in my book, “Chatelaines, Utility to Glorious Extravagance" on page 175.
