A rather unusual leather (probably crocodile) vest chain with a small disc that would have passed through a buttonhole with the watch and leather surround in the top coat pocket. The central watch is marked on the dial and on the mechanism for C Bucherer, Swiss and additionally Lucerne on the dial. Early 20th century. Maximum length approx. 6.3 ins(16cm). Maximum diameter 1.9 ins (5cm). Diameter of watch face approx. 1 ins (2.75cm). Weight 20 grams. In good condition for age. The leather is slightly worn but intact and the watch ticks when wound. This item appears in the book, "How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years" on page 178.
