This pleasing small purse could be carried on the wrist or possibly used as a chatelaine purse hanging from a belt. It is of figured heavy black silk and trimmed with fine bands of ecru. The frame on the actual purse is covered with fabric but there is a visible brass opening knob and small handle for the larger fabric carrying handle. This carrying handle is of the black silk edged with ecru and is tethered near the purse by a fixed band. The front has a tab to aid opening once the brass knob is pressed to reveal the interior. This is lined with a heavy ecru fabric and there is the addition of an oval section which is attached with a narrow band to the purse. This oval is covered with the same fabric on one side and would have almost certainly have originally had a mirror glued to the opposite side. This could be replaced. The overall condition of the purse is good for age and it would make a nice addition to a collection of vintage purses. Maximum length 14.5 ins (36.8cm), purse measures 6.75 ins (17.1cm). Weight 66 grams.
