This interesting item is a French silver (800) needle case with pull-off top to access the space to place the needles. This section is marked with the boar head for small French silver items which was introduced in 1838. It closes firmly with a slight gap between the two sections and has a few small indentations but is otherwise in good condition for age. This would be a very nice item to complete your 19th century sewing/needlework box or to place amongst a collection of early needle cases.
Length 2.6 ins (6.5cm). Weight 2 grams.
