This exquisitely embroidered group of Chinese items for a scholar includes containers for a watch, brushes, ink stick and notes. All are finely embroidered with beautiful floral motifs. The watch holder/pocket, ink stick and brush holder could be worn hanging from the waist. Two of the pieces (the watch holder and ink stick) have a background of black silk and the ink stick holder has a long pale aqua tassel. The brush holder and note holder have a background of deep navy silk. They are all in absolutely beautiful condition and appear to be unused. The paper lining of the ink stick holder has a small section that could be re-glued back into position. This would be a beautiful addition of collection of Oriental antiques, particularly those featuring beautiful, fine embroidery. Please note that the watch included in one of the images is not included. Width of watch pocket 3.5 ins (8.9cm), height 3.1 ins (8cm). Combined weight 32 grams. This item appears in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page 221.
