This an exceedingly stylish watch pocket with a shield-shaped outer section and the front of the pocket shaped as a heart. The background is of turquoise beads edged with clear beads banded with brown. On the two larger sections are three beautifully worked fleur-de-lis constructed of clear beads edged with bronze beads. The total item has a firmer cardboard centre and a backing of blue silk and a brown ribbon tag for attachment to a hook on the wall. The beading is in excellent condition but there is some wear and loss of the pale blue backing silk. Despite this, this pocket presents beautifully and would make a lovely statement amongst a collection of unusual bead pieces or watch-related items. Total length 7.25 ins (18.4cm), width 4.75 ins (12cm). Weight 74 grams. This item appears in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page 229.
