This is a small collection of three different buttons which have unusual themes, including a compass, a watch and a watch or clock with minutes and seconds hands. They are all of gilt metal and have metal shanks. The compass has a cream enamel face as does the smaller of the two watch-form examples. The condition of all three is very good for age and they would make a delightful to a collection of thematic buttons. Compass diameter 0.5 ins (1.1cm), small watch 0.5 ins (1.1cm), larger watch 0.7 ins (1.8cm). These items appeared in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page 216.
