This is a delightful form-brooch watch of marcasite. It is made as a stagecoach with driver and two horses. The driver is cracking his whip and the horses appear to be responding! The coach has movable wheels and a little pendant lamp below the driver’s seat. In the coach is housed a tiny watch marked ‘Olymp’ (possibly company, model or retailer) with ‘17 Jewels’ and 'Swiss Made' written on the dial. The dial is reversed so that it can be read by the wearer. The brooch pin has a secure catch. The watch is in working order and the whole piece is in excellent condition for age. This would make a lovely item to wear and would be quite a conversation piece. Total length 2.25 ins (5.6cm). Weight 22 grams. This item appears in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page190.
