This is an attractive silver (most likely Continental) étui of the Georgian era. The basic étui is plain but elegant with decorative reeded bands at top, bottom and at the opening. It opens with a thumb-piece. The interior still retains its original frame, and looking at the spaces, this would most likely have been a combination writing, eating and sewing example. The piece is not marked but is a delightful item that fits nicely in the hand and would add to a collection of small silver pieces. The absence of original fittings is reflected in the asking price. It could be a fascinating challenge to find the appropriate items to complete the interior! Height 3.6 ins (9.2cm) x width 1.75 ins (4.4cm). Weight 46 grams.
