This is a delightful small box for holding packets of needles. It has been created in the shape of the classic knife boxes of the era. It is decorated with typical Tunbridge techniques with the image of a castle on the top and two decorative bands also of fine tessellated mosaic ware. The condition is very good for age and this would be an unusual item to add to a collection of Tunbridge ware, needlework tools or needle holders. Maximum height 2.5 ins (6.4cm). Weight 14 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 301.
