This is a quality and stylish sterling silver chatelaine with three chains created by the prestigious and prolific English silversmith, Sampson Mordan. This maker is renowned for the incredible pencils that were created by his company. It is a little less common to see other items such as this by this maker. The waist plaque is circular with a decoration of engraved links around the edge and a stylized flower in the centre. Currently it holds three chains but there are two additional rings on the back to which extra chains could be attached. The simple chains terminate in silver swivels. This piece currently does not have any appendages so this is a special opportunity to add your own collection of chatelaine pieces such as pencil, purse, notebook, sewing pieces etc. The condition is very good and the swivels appear secure for age. Maximum length 8.5 ins (21.5cm). Diameter of plaque 2 ins (5cm). Weight 72 grams.
