This is a charming purse in greenish-brown velvet and silver metal (which does not appear to attract a magnet) and looks to have been a commercially-made fashion accessory. It consists of the lined velvet purse with an interior small pocket which closes with a press opening with a small tag to help with this process. It has metal rings and silver buckle attached to the reinforced velvet short handle. Through the buckle passes a long velvet-covered strap which incorporates a sliding velvet ring. This ring makes the strap long to go over the hand to be worn on the wrist, or shorter if threaded through a belt. The strap can also be undone at the buckle. The condition is very good for age which would be late 19th-early 20th century, with minimal rubbing of the velvet. The metal components appear to be in good condition. This would be a delightful small purse to use or to display. Purse width 5.75 ins (14.5cm) x 5.5 ins (14cm). Total length with strap 14 ins (35.5cm). Weight 132 grams.
