This is a delightful small box with pull-off lid in sterling silver. It is possible that this may have come from a dressing case or have been a separate item to use for pills, cachou or comfit lozenges. The maker’s mark is ‘T.P’ over ‘E.R’ in a quatrefoil for Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson, London c1806. The condition of the box is excellent for age and would be a lovely addition to a collection of small pieces of silver. 1 ins (2.5cm) x 1.25 ins (3cm) x 1.25 ins (3cm). Weight 34 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 223.
