A wooden painted box to store offerings of spices or dried flowers. This would have belonged to a wealthy family and features wooden dowels and natural pigments. Nepal/Tibet c1900. The box stands on four decoratively carved feet and the lid slides open to reveal four compartments. The top and sides are painted with fruit and floral motifs. Condition: This box is in excellent condition for age. Length 5.5 ins (14cm), width 5.75 ins (14.5cm), depth 3.5 ins (9cm). Weight 460 grams.
