This lovely drop-front glove box has a slightly domed top and is of marquetry with brass stringing. This is a very quietly elegant box with very beautiful varieties of inlay of multiple timbers with surrounds of stringing of fine brass wire. The interior is equally beautiful and has the appearance of a burr myrtle veneer which has the most amazing sheen. Both the base and the lid have contrasting stringing. A top cartouche, the hinges and lock plate are of brass but there is no key. When opening the box, the front section drops down on hinges for easy access. The condition of this box is excellent and it would be a most elegant addition to any collection. Please note that the gloves pictured in two of the images are not included. 10.5 ins (26.5cm) x 4.5 ins (11.5cm) x 3 ins (8cm). Weight 608 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 401.
