This is a most charming pin cushion from the Regency, early 19th century. It is in the shape of a harp with the design of strings pricked out with pins. The sides are decorated with beads and pins in floral form. The reverse is of black silk now distressed but original. There is the residue of a tape at one end so this may have been worn at the waist or on a chatelaine. This item is a very appealing survivor and would grace any collection of pin cushions. Apart from the black silk already described, the piece is in very good and pre-loved condition. Maximum width 3.54 ins (9cm), maximum depth 0.83 ins (2.1cm). Weight 64 grams.
