This is a most appealing box which would look lovely for display. It is a cylinder fronted box decorated with floral painted scenes on the front and the sides. It is velvet lined and has six compartments for the original gilded bottles. The bottles inside look like gilded decanters but are much shorter than would be usual and are therefore more likely to be for perfume toilet waters. All of the bottles and stoppers appear original and five of the six have matching numbers for bottle and stopper. The condition is good for age with some wear to the exterior with minimal cracking. The gilding of the bottles is in good condition for three and rubbed for the remainder and the lip of one bottle has a small chip which does not extend into the neck. This item would make a most attractive addition to a bedroom or essentially to any room in the house. Box measures approximately width 10.75 ins (27.5cm) x depth 7.5 ins (19cm) x height 8.5 ins (21.5cm). Weight 3310 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 423.
Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $57.00 USD – with no tracking is cheaper. This item is covered by own insurance policy. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
