Hand-tinted Daguerreotype of Elegant Woman in Probable Mourning, Ninth Plate, Mid-19th CenturyHand-tinted Daguerreotype of Elegant Woman in Probable Mourning, Ninth Plate, Mid-19th CenturyHand-tinted Daguerreotype of Elegant Woman in Probable Mourning, Ninth Plate, Mid-19th Century

This is a lovely portrait of a woman; her cheeks tinted the softest pink. Her clothing is very restrained which makes one feel that she may be in mourning. She wears a dark coloured gown with high collar and pretty ribbon detail, with faint tinting. She wears a fine guard chain around her neck to a watch or locket at the waist and dark bracelets on each wrist. The exterior of the full case shows mild to moderate scuffing but the hinge in still present and the closure hook and loop is functional. The red velvet lining inside is still present and has a floral theme. This would be a lovely example of a 19th century daguerreotype featuring an interesting sitter and it would add to any collection. Case measures 2.8 ins (7cm) x 2.5 ins (6.3cm). Weight 64 grams.
Insured Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $25.00 USD - with no tracking is cheaper. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
