This is a classic image of quality Japanese lacquer-work. It is described in the details as illustrating “the good taste and ingenuity of the Japanese in lacquer-work”. It shows a cabinet about 3 feet high and a large earthenware dish which were part of a private collection, contributed by Sir R. Allcock, C.B. There is also a Daimio lady’s box, another smaller cabinet and a small fan-shaped box. This image was created and published by Day & Son, Lithographers to The Queen, J.B.Waring, Direx.
