This is a lovely three volume first edition version of Charles Dickens’ iconic book, ‘Master Humphrey’s Clock” with illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot Browne. These were published in London, Chapman and Hall, 186, Strand; Volume I is dated September, 1840; Volume II March, 1841 and Volume III, November, 1841. The books are in their original covers with leather spine and corners and marbled front and back covers. The volumes include “Master Humphrey’s Clock”, “The Old Curiosity Shop” and “Barnaby Rudge”. There is some foxing of the beginning and end papers but the main texts only have the occasional marking. The external surfaces show some rubbing and wear but this does not significantly detract. There have been various pencil comments written at the beginning but these could be removed, and they are ex-libris John Baillie Monroe. These volumes are in very good condition for age approximately 180 years, and would add to a collection of special first editions.
Each volume measures 10 ins (29.3cm) x 6.75 ins (17.2cm). Combined weight 2500 grams. Insured Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $71.00 USD - with no tracking is cheaper. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
