This charming young lady is dressed in the classic clothing style of the mid-1890s, with a very large bow at the front and a small cap perched on the top of her head. Of great interest is the fact that she is wearing a classic leather and possibly silver chatelaine at her waist and it is fitted with a variety of useful implements for her occupation, such as scissors, forceps, possibly a pulse glass to take the pulse etc. This sepia photograph was taken by A. Spurge of 41 Milsom Street, Bath. The condition is very good although there is some slight scuffing of the surface; the image is clear and crisp consistent with age. Such occupational images give an extraordinary insight and documentation of the dress and working utensils of the day. Width 4.25 ins (11cm) x height 6.5 ins (16.5cm). Registered Air Mail Post (with signature on delivery) to the USA would be $17.95 USD. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
