A wonderful image featuring two young nurses, their uniforms with the leg o'mutton sleeves of the times, along with full skirts and aprons which must have made their jobs very difficult! Both nurses wear black ribbon guard chains around their necks with one obviously attached to a watch tucked into the band of her apron. Please note that an equivalent nurse’s guard chain is currently available on this site (GEC -00772). This image was taken by Everett's Portraits, 122 Boylston St. Boston, Mass. The photograph is in excellent condition with the most minor spotting but excellent clarity, and very slight wear to the mat. The back of the mat is plain. This is another extraordinary example of the documentation of fashion and accessories of nurses of the late 19th century. Width 4.25 ins x height 6 ins (10.5cm x 15cm). This item can be seen in the book, "How the Watch was Worn - A Fashion for 500 Years", on page 206. Registered Air Mail Post (with signature on delivery) to the USA would be $17.95 USD.
