This sepia cabinet card of a charming young nurse has extraordinary detail. She is wearing an outfit with the full sleeves of the 1890s and a small cap. On her bodice she is wearing a brooch watch chatelaine. From her waist she wears a classic leather nurse’s chatelaine which includes at least scissors, forceps, and possibly a pulse glass or thermometer, and also from her waist is an extraordinary long chain of linked safety pins. The image was taken by Green's Photographic Art Studio, Boston, Mass. It is crisp and in excellent condition for age. This amazing photograph truly depicts the fashions of the time and the appropriate accessories for a dedicated and well prepared young nurse of the era. Width 4.25 ins (11cm) x height 6.5 ins (16.5cm). This item can be seen in the book, "How the Watch was Worn - A Fashion for 500 Years", on page 206.
