This is a lovely fabric-covered fan box by the renowned maker J. Duvelleroy, Paris. By appointment London: 167, Regent Street, 167. This box was manufactured in Paris. The exterior is covered with cream, pink and fine black striped brocade with a floral design on the cream. It is enhanced with gilt braid on the two opening surfaces of the box. The interior is fully lined with pink finely textured satin with the maker’s details in gilt inside the lid. The box is tapered from one side to the other and would fit a smaller sized fan (see measurements). The catch for the box is secure. The condition shows some general fading and there is a small area of the gilt braid at the back that is missing; otherwise, the condition is very good for age. This would make a special protective box for one of your favourite smaller fans. Exterior dimensions length 10.6 ins (27cm) x width 1.5 ins (3.7cm) x height 2 ins (5cm). Interior dimensions length 10 ins (25.5cm) x maximum width 1 ins (2.5cm) x minimum width 0.75 ins (1.5cm). Weight 110 grams. This item appears in my book, Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 400.
Insured Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $$33.00 USD - with no tracking is cheaper. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
