This is a lovely late 19th century Continental boulle tea caddy with two interior lidded compartments. The shell is backed with red foil to give the rich colour, which contrasts beautifully with the brass inlay. The caddy has a key with the keyhole set off centre in the front of the caddy, but the lock does not appear to be functional. The caddy rests on ebonised feet. It is in very good condition for age. This is an elegant example of a tea caddy and also a most decorative item for display. 10.5 ins(26.6cm) x 5.5 ins (14cm) x 4.5 ins (11.4cm). Weight 760 grams.
