This large bentwood bride's box is probably of Pennsylvania German origin. The lid is decorated with a colourful engraving of children working in a garden and the edges of the box are decorated with hand-painted roses. This is a most attractive example of the folk art genre. The upper edge of the bottom section (covered when the box is closed) is uneven due to a small piece having split off. Width 18 1/8 ins x depth 10.75 ins x height 6 ins.
