This is an appealing cabinet card of two apparent sisters wearing similar gowns enhanced by guard chains, brooches and watches. Each has a near identical and extraordinary hairstyle which must have been the height of fashion at the time! The image is beautifully crisp and in very good condition, clearly showing the two ladies bedecked with their special jewellery but each in a slightly different style. The use of the jewellery in this manner may be of interest to collectors of Victorian jewellery and the clothing of the period. The photographer is M.C. Wells, Marengo, Illinois. Late 19th century.
