This scrolled style for a waist plaque was popular towards the end of the 19th century. This chatelaine has a nicely understated design for the waist plaque and waist hook. The hook is marked for sterling silver, Birmingham, 1900 with the maker’s mark R & W, most likely for Reynolds & Westwood. It has two chains ending in swivels that each have the lion mark. This originally could have been used for two compatible appendages or for attachment to a spectacle case of purse. It is compatible in style to one of the sterling silver buckles currently listed (see Item GEC-001053). Maximum length 7.25 ins (18.4cm). Weight 20 grams. Insured Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $32.00 USD - with no tracking is cheaper. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
