This is a truly fabulous piece. It consists of a standing urn-shaped perfume bottle with exquisite bird stopper and intricately carved intaglio seal of bloodstone with foliage and harp design. It has a security chain for the stopper and two gold chains passing to the finger ring component which is of finely chased gold with a central turquoise. This would have been worn on the fifth finger with the bottle draped across the gloved hand to make a most elegant statement. On one side of the bottle is a cartouche with a monogram and the date 1840. The stopper fits firmly and is completely covered or made of gold. The workmanship of the entire piece is of beautiful quality, and the overall condition is excellent for age. This is a most elegant and astonishing piece and would grace any collection of objet de vertu, perfume bottles or chatelaines and is of museum quality. Maximum length 4.5 ins (11.4cm). Weight 28 grams. This item appears in my book, “Chatelaines, Utility to Glorious Extravagance” on page 270. Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $23.00 USD – with no tracking is cheaper. This item is covered by own insurance policy. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
