This sixth plate image features a fashionable young gentleman wearing top coat, waistcoat and light coloured bow tie. He wears a long chain with slide around his neck which is presumably attached to a watch (but could be an eyeglass) which then sits in a pocket of his waistcoat. The image has some moderate tarnish and spotting but the gentleman is quite clear. The mat has slight spotting and the full case shows moderate wear with a broken spine; it has its one clasp which is functional. This is a nice example of daguerreotypes of the era, showing fashions, hair-dos and accessories. Case measures 3.5 ins (8.9cm) x 3 ins (7.6cm). Weight 114 grams. This item can be seen in the book, "How the Watch was Worn - A Fashion for 500 Years", on page 96.
