My Personal Collection comes from the home I grew up in, 338 North Elm Street Hinsdale Illinois 60521.
Designed by George Grant Elmsley and built in 1924, the objects shown are from this property and were previously installed and in-use when we took ownership in 1955.
I have one photograph and blueprints to prove my claim.
We sold our home in May 2002 after receiving a historical designation as,(Sumi- Baab Residence) from the Chamber of Commerce in Hinsdale 2001.
I have included a notation indicating their original location on the property.
I have two kitchen cabinets, seven drawer base cabinet and a four door wall cabinet located on kitchen and breakfast elevations sheet.
The cat shoe scraper was located on the tile entryway outside the front door, to the left facing the front door. First floor drawing.
The cherry wood framed front door panel was built for my father by me in 1981.
The lower half of the door was broken by my brother and removed in 1962.
I have the balance of that panel. There is no design of any kind on it, only the top corner shown.
The leaded glass light fixture was hung in an inverted position in the dining room and was removed during a remodel in 1965.
Black-and-white photograph shows the fixture in place in 1959.
Elmsley's firms name is on only one blueprint sheet out of 14 and may indicate this is the draft set or incomplete set of blueprints.
Those are my fathers markings on the sheet and his writing indicating in complete set.
I'm also have a link to Hinsdale's historical Society website with the description and picture of the subject property.
