Wonderful deck of maritime cards made by De La Rue c.1930 for the “Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company” (“P&O”), featuring a beautiful illustration of the R.M.S. Mongolia (aka S.S. Mongolia) with Gibraltar in the background, and a special ace of Spades made for P&O. The R.M.S. Mongolia was operated under that name for P&O from 1923-1938, and because the deck includes a backed contract bridge scoring card, it should probably not be dated prior to 1930.
The deck has 52 cards, with the special Ace noted, plus a standard De La Rue Joker and the contract bridge insert card noted. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and are in the original box.
The cards and box are in excellent condition.
Thanks for visiting.
