A game called “Soccer Pontoon,” first made by W.H. Storey & Co., Ltd. in or about 1938. I assume that the game here for sale is the original edition, but am not certain of it. It is a card game that appears to provide a means to have an imaginary soccer (football) pool. Soccer (football) pools were very popular in Britain until the 1990s when they were replaced by a national lottery. In addition to a 54-card set of cards, there is a paper insert containing the rules of the game, along with advertising for other Storey games, and a pad of score sheets on which one forecasts the results of imaginary matches. The general idea is to collect cards that correspond to the outcomes predicted on the score sheet.
The pack of cards is complete and consists of 27 cards with black numbers and 27 with red. The cards are bridge size, measuring 90mm x 58mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent condition. The rules insert and score sheets are in very good condition. The box is good condition, structurally sound, but with modest shelf wear and soiling in several places.
Thanks for visiting.
