Excellent double deck of cards made by Fournier, titled "Romance Espagnol," featuring the beautiful designs of Fournier's then artistic director, C.S. de Tejada. Fournier made these cards starting in or about 1951; this particular double deck has a Spanish tax stamp used during the period 1940-1964. There is also a printed year 1959 on the 4 of clubs, and I have used it as the actual year of manufacture, although I am not sure that is what it means.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. The cards are also accompanied by a paper insert in English and Spanish describing them. The cards are wide, measuring 89mm x 63mm, with gold gilt on the corners. They come in the original box.
One deck is mint and still sealed in its wrapper; the other deck is mint, with a broken wrapper that permits the deck to be photographed. The box is in fair to good condition, with light soiling to the lid and all 4 corners of the lid split out; the central divider to the interior of the box needs to be reglued.
