Very early Disney deck, made by Western and published by Disney in conjunction with the release of its “Silly Symphony” series of animated short films. The entire series of 75 animated short films was made by Disney over a 10-year period from 1929 to 1939. “Three Little Pigs,” made in 1933, was one of the most successful of them, winning the Academy Award that year for Best Animated Short Film and inspiring a sequel. I have dated the cards to the year of the movie, and, based upon the insert cards in the deck, I think that date is very close if not exactly correct.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus a standard Western Joker of the period, plus 2 extra cards – 1 backed card with contract bridge scoring and 1 unbacked card with contract and auction bridge scoring. The cards are bridge size, measuring 88mm x 58mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent used condition. There is edge wear, but the cards are otherwise without issues. The box is in very good to excellent condition, with minor shelf wear and minor soiling.
Thanks for visiting.
