Mint, sealed (cards, not box) set of striking “African Art” cards made c.1994 by Carta Mundi for U.S. Games Systems, Inc., featuring the brilliant designs of John V. Beckvermit III. The cards are accompanied by a booklet by Mr. Beckvermit, explaining the deck and the African art symbolism used in the designs. This deck is mint and sealed, but the faces of the cards can be seen at the World Wide Playing Card Museum (WWPCM #02760). It should be noted that, while the suit symbols are traditional French suit symbols, the pips on the pip cards are African themed and unique to this deck.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an insert card announcing the deck, along with the 32-page booklet noted. The cards are wide, measuring 88mm x 62mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are mint and sealed, and the booklet is in excellent condition, “as new” or very nearly so. However, the box is in no better than good condition, clean but with serious tears at both ends. Several of the pictures of this listing show that damage.
