Two decks featuring the work of famous modern Spanish artists. One is a deck from the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, available for $15, and the other is a deck made by Naipes Comas and sold at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, with backs featuring “Las Meninas,” the famous painting by Picasso, available for $10. Both are for sale for $25. Each is described briefly below.
• Wonderful deck for admirers of Salvador Dali, the famous Spanish surrealist artist, featuring works from the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. Each card shows a work by the artist. The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus 2 additional cards advertising the Museum. The cards are wide, measuring 89mm x 62mm, and come in the original box. The cards are “as new.” The box could be described the same were it not for 2 tears at the back, apparently caused by someone trying to open the box the wrong way!
• A somewhat rare deck made by Naipes Comas featuring Picasso’s famous “Las Meninas” painting, his 20th century rendering of the Baroque painting of the same name by Velsaquez that hangs in The Prado and that is considered one of the very greatest paintings in the entire history of Spanish art. Picasso’s work is from a series of studies that he did of the Velasquez masterpiece in 1957, studies that collectively can be seen in the “Las Meninas” room at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. The deck has 52 suited cards with an Ace of Spades bearing a Picasso signature, plus 3 standard Naipes Comas “Huntsman” Jokers. The cards are wide, measuring 88mm x 63mm; there is no box. The cards are “as new.”
