For the attorney on your gift list, delightful cards, made by Brown & Bigelow’s “RCI” division, featuring backs with courtroom cartoons by an artist whose work seems familiar, but whose signature I can’t make out. One of the cartoons illustrates the legal maxim, “Qui Non Negat Fatetur” (“He who does not admit, denies”), while the other illustrates the maxim, “Nemo Dat Qui Non Habet” (“He who hath not cannot give”). United States Code Annotated is the publishing name given to a consolidation and codification of federal statutory law.
I assume that each deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers. The Joker showing through the cellophane is a standard RCI joker. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 57mm, and the decks come in the original box – a box whose lid is designed to look like the cover of a USCA volume. The box actually references West Publishing Company, the leading publisher of legal statutes and cases at the time.
As noted, the cards are mint and sealed. The box has minor shelf wear.
Thanks for visiting.
