Excellent set of The Worshipful Company’s 1929 deck, with a portrait of King George V on the backs. His recognition in that year was “[I]n general relief and thankfulness for his recovery from illness.” A total of 4000 packs were issued, and Sidney S. L. Lamert, Esq. was the Master that year and his picture is on the Ace of Spades.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 1 Joker, plus an additional 3 of Hearts with a cut corner that must once have been a sample card. The cards are wide, measuring 90mm x 63mm, with gold gilt around, and come in the original Worshipful telescope type box.
The cards are in excellent lightly used condition, with about 85% of the gold gilt intact and some evidence of handling. The box is in very good condition, reasonably clean, but with wear to the outer box at the edges.
