“Double deck” of wonderful cards published by Waddington c.1979, celebrating the 1976 London Olympics. It appears that the cards were published in a limited edition of 4000 packs, and distributed by Stanley Gibbons. I put the term “double deck” in quotes because the two decks in the box have identical banks. I tend to think that one of the decks in the set when sold had some kind of contrasting backs. Perhaps a mistake was made with this set. Or, perhaps this was a set of canasta cards and the identical backs are intentional. In any event, please note the possibility that the two decks are from different sets, now housed in one double deck box. Each card in the deck has a picture of a medal winner from the 1976 Olympics
Each deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus 2 extra cards announcing the deck. The cards are bridge size, measuring 88mm x 57mm, and the two matching decks came to me in an original box.
One of the decks is mint and sealed. The open deck is “as new,” as is the box.
