Nintendo “Aquascutum” Playing Cards, c.1983Nintendo “Aquascutum” Playing Cards, c.1983Nintendo “Aquascutum” Playing Cards, c.1983

Interesting deck made c.1983 by Nintendo for Aquascutum, the luxury British clothier. It is interesting because of the colors used. The backs and backgrounds of the faces on the cards are dark gray, not black. The pips, suit symbols and designs of the court cards are in subdued gold and silver – silver for the black suits, gold for the red ones.

The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers. The court cards are a standard English pattern, and the jokers are standard Nintendo jokers. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and come in the original hard plastic Nintendo box.

The cards and plastic box are in excellent condition, “as new” or very nearly so.
