Gorgeous double deck set of the Hermes cards that feature the wonderful illustrations of famous French graphic designer, Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron (pseudonym, "Cassandre"). This is the second printing of these cards by Draeger-Freres. The first edition was published in 1948, and the cards were published about two years later in this second edition.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an insert card. The cards are slightly large and wide, measuring 91mm x 60mm, and have gold gilt around. The cards are housed in the original card boxes, inside the distinctive orange Hermes box.
The cards are in superb condition, “as new” or very nearly so, with gold gilt intact. The card boxes are in excellent condition, except that one of them is missing its top lid. The orange Hermes box is in excellent condition, clean but with modest shelf wear at the edges.
There is a first edition double deck set of these cards, without the individual card boxes but with the orange Hermes box, also for sale in this shop (T00002782).
Reference (this second edition): Fournier, Playing Cards, France 402
