Extremely beautiful and rare anti-war skat deck ("Antikriegsspielkarte") featuring striking designs by artist Siegfried Heilmeier c.1983. It was made in a limited edition of 100 decks, of which this is no. 61. The cards are hand-colored (“Hand-und schablonenkoloriert”). I assume that the cards were self-published by the artist, although the Jack of Spades has a reference (“schluss mit dem wettrosten”) that is unclear to me, which may identify pertinent information about the maker or publisher. The Aces of Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts have the word “Peace” in several languages, and the Ace of Spades has a dove and a peace sign.
The deck has the usual 32 suited cards of a skat deck, plus 1 Joker, plus an extra card announcing the deck. The cards are long, measuring approximately 100mm x 59mm – “approximately” because they were cut by hand, and the dimensions vary ever so slightly as a result. They come in the original box.
The cards and box are “as new.”
