Wonderful pin-up deck called "Arabian NIghts," made by Parksons Press of Bombay, India. It is a version of the famous “Darling” pin-up playing cards (see, this shop, ## T00003622, T00003215) made by Bielefelder in the 1950s. According to the World Web Playing Card Museum (WWPCM #01341/5), the cards were made c.1980, and I have adopted that date, but I question it. The designs of the “Darling” cards are extremely tame by more contemporary standards; perhaps the deck would have been controversial in India if published there in the 1950s.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus a blank card. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 57mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are “as new.” The box is clean, but is missing a top side flap and has modest shelf wear.
Thanks for visiting.
