Mint sealed set of delightful small tarot cards, Major Arcana and Fool card only, made and published by Il Meneghello c.1981 in a signed and numbered limited edition of 1500. Because this set is mint and sealed, I do not know the number of this set. The cards feature the brilliant and humorous designs of Il Meneghello’s founder, Osvaldo Menegazzi, depicting aspects of the smoker’s culture, primarily related to pipes. These cards are not be confused with the Meneghello/Menegazzi “Arcani Fumatori” cards, also for sale in this shop (T00003484).
The cards are pictured in the Kaplan Encyclopedia and described as follows:
“Osvaldo Menegazzi, in collaboration with G. Scarsato, made twenty-two Major Arcana that depict various forms of tobacco and paraphernalia for smokers. The artifact on each card is labeled on the right border. The deck was published in 1980 by Edizioni Il Meneghello of Milan in a numbered and limited edition of 1500. The backs of the cards are plain light brown.”
The set is complete at 22 cards – the Major Arcana and the Fool card – plus a card announcing the deck, numbered and signed by Menegazzi. The cards are very small, measuring 80mm x 49mm. It is my understanding that they are wrapped in cardboard and then placed in a sleeve that is original to the cards.
The cards and packaging are mint and sealed.
