Twin decks of the famous bullfighting cards from Mexico, featuring original designs by Spanish bullfight artist Carlos Ruano Llopis. These decks were published by Enrique Guerrero under the title "Baraja Taurino" and printed by Offset-Latina c.1950; it is the first edition of the cards. Soon after, a second edition was made and published by Clemente Jacques Y Cia, S.A. The cards in the second edition are more common, and have slight differences from those of the original edition. But the decks in this listing are twin decks from the original edition. Fournier dates the cards c.1940, but I think that 1950 is probably more likely. Each deck is available separately for $20; both are for sale for $35.
Each deck in this Guerrero Edition is complete with 52 suited cards, plus 1 Joker. The cards are wide, measuring 90mm x 64mm, and come in the original boxes.
The cards are in very good used condition, with light soiling and edge wear; the 9 of Hearts in one of the decks has a crease (separately pictured). The boxes are structurally sound, but there is some wear, and the sample cards have mild soiling.
THE AMOUNT SHOWN FOR DOMESTIC SHIPPING AND INSURANCE ASSUMES THAT BOTH DECKS ARE PURCHASED. IF ONE DECK IS PURCHASED, SHIPPING WILL BE LESS.
