Extremely beautiful deck of cards printed by Grimaud c.1973, called "Le Jeu des Peintres," featuring original designs on the court cards, aces, and jokers by 19 different prominent contemporary artists. The backs of the decks are plain gray.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 3 Jokers, plus 3 extra cards, 1 that announces the deck and 2 that provide brief biographical information on the 19 painters that contributed to the deck. The extra cards note that the deck is presented by Grimaud and Andre Francois, the famous French illustrator and painter, and Fournier notes that Francois selected the artists. It is possible that he also designed the pip cards. The cards are wide, measuring 89mm x 63mm. They come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent condition, "as new" or very nearly so. The box is in excellent condition with the remnants on one front corner of what must have been a price sticker, but otherwise without issues.
