Beautiful presentation of the Apache Playing Cards from the Wayland Collection, self-published by Virginia and Harold Wayland, c.1972. The original Apache cards are a deck of 40 cards made c.1875, of which 39 survived at the time of this edition. The cards were once owned by the Waylands and sold in 2006 by their daughters to the Arizona State Museum at the University of Arizona at Tempe. The presentation is styled “Wayland Playing Card Monograph No. 3,” and was printed in a limited edition of 750 sets, of which this is no. 695. It consists of high quality reprints of 39 cards on four sheets, plus a 10-page explanatory booklet by Virginia Wayland, plus a paper insert with a summary of pertinent facts relating to the cards.
The entire set – cards, booklet and paper insert – is “as new.”
